Thai tourist guide goes missing in China

A Thai tourist guide, Khanit Ruenromthavornsom, went missing in China's south-western province of Sichuan after the earthquake hit the province.

Khanit, from southernmost Yala province, traveled with a group tour to the province since last week. On the day, he was on his way back from scenic area of Jiuzhaigou to Chengdu and lost contract since then, according to the Foreign Ministry's spokesman Tharit Charungvat.

It remained unclear whether Khanit traveled on his own or led any group tour to the area.

Chinese authorities managed to rescue 300 tourists but the Thai Consulate Office has not yet been able find Khanit, spokesman Tharit said.
