Supreme Commander Gen Boonsrang Niampradit said Tuesday that he has not yet been informed of the reinstatement of the military service of Duang Yoobamrung, a son of Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung.

Boonsrang said Prime Minister and Defence Minister Samak Sundaravej could sign an order in his capacity as the defence minister to reinstate Duang into the military service without having to inform the supreme commander first.

Samak did not confirm or deny when asked about the order.

It was reported that Samak had lobbied for the reinstatement of Duang to the army after he was dismissed from the military following his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of a police officer in October 2001.
