A framework to make Local firms more competitive

Three groups, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries and the Thai Bankers' Association, will submit the 573 Framework for Software Industry to the Private Public Partnership committee to help boost the competitiveness of the Thai software industry in local and international markets.

Published on April 3, 2008

Anukul Tamprasirt, president of the Federation of Thai Industries' Software Industry Club, said the 573 Framework is divided into two paradigms: executing paradigm and infrastructure paradigm.

While the executing paradigm covers e-government, e-knowledge and e-business, the infrastructure paradigm covers e-services and e-security.

He said e-governance will become important for the software industry because local software can get a boost through this. It will also provide services to the public and increase IT literacy.

The e- knowledge paradigm will help develop human capital, a knowledge-based economy and grow the numbers of knowledge workers through the use of information technology.

The e-business paradigm will encourage businesses to adopt new technology to increase productivity and be more competitive.

The e-services paradigm focuses on the government sector and helps it develop various services for the public. Lastly, the e-security paradigm focuses on using technology for national security purposes.

The framework will encourage the government and the private sector to integrate the country's information communication technology (ICT) development with industrial development and human resource development in a way that creates superior domestic and international standards, in the software industry as well as in social development.
