FTAs generate Bt4 tn in annual trade

Deputy Commerce Minister Wirun Techapaibul said that the five free trade agreements have generated trade of over Bt4 trillion per annum to the Kingdom.

He said on Thursday that there are a number of countries that show interest including Peru and Chile, though Thailand has no policy to strike new bilateral trade agreements.

So far, Thailand has struck the agreements with China, India, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. Two more will be signed this year with Japan and Korea, under the Asean-Japan and Asean-Korean frameworks.

The Asean-Korean FTA should take effect within 1-2 months, he said.
