Big C issues new cards

Big C, in collaboration with Cetelem and MasterCard Worldwide, rolled out the new Big C MasterCard, a buddy credit card for Big C shoppers, offering enhanced financial capacity and many more benefits.

"Today's competition in the credit card market continues to be more intense with constantly changing consumer behavior. To meet modern lifestyles and provide more convenience for customers who go shopping at Big C, we announced the new Big C MasterCard in conjunction with Cetelem and MasterCard Worldwide, both of which are globally recognized financial, credit card and loan companies. This new deal will help strengthen Big C's credit card network, allowing Big C customers to enjoy more convenience and greater benefits," said Rumpa Kumhomreun, CFO & Vice President, Accounting & Finance of Big C Supercenter Plc.

The target audience of new Big C MasterCard includes Big C credit cardholders and Big C customers who use credit cards to pay for their purchases at Big C. The existing 150,000 Big C cardholders are able to switch to the Big C MasterCard credit cards at no cost. Big C MasterCard holders will enjoy greater benefits as Big C MasterCard is acceptable worldwide, provides ATM access for cash withdrawals under the credit limit and can be used as a loan card for installment payments.

Big C believes there will be tremendous acceptance of the new Big C MasterCard and expects 100,000 new cardholders by the end of this year. The new Big C MasterCard is anticipated to increase customer spending by 25 per cent or a total of Bt2 billion (Bt2,000 per cardholder).
