I found inspiration for this painting from Thailand's long-recorded traditions, through the telling of stories to children and  their learning by reading inscriptions on palm leaves placed on specially designed, small folding tables.

Stories written on palm leaves usually tell of Buddha's life and recount tales from the Jatakas to cultivate young minds and instill faith, imagination and morality in them.
