LPG falls to Bt18.13/kg on March 3

The National Energy Policy Board on Thursday decided to fix the liquefied petroleum gas at Bt18.13 per kg until July, putting in place the existing pricing formula.

Deputy Energy Permanent Secretary Kurujit Nakornthap said after the board's meeting, chaired by Energy Minister Poonpirom Liptapanlop, that decision is based on the agreement by the ministry, the Energy Business Department and PTT Plc.

The new price would be in place on March 3. LPG, so-called cooking gas, is now priced at Bt18.21 per kg.

The pricing formula is 95 per cent based on local gas price which is subject to a ceiling. The remaining 5 per cent is the global price which is much higher at US$802 per tonne. Without the decision, the new formula would be exercised in April whereby the global price would carry the 10 per cent weight.
