Apirak to discuss sex claims

Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayodhin will meet with the Friends of Women Foundation tomorrow to discuss allegations of extramarital affairs between senior officials of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and their subordinates.

Supensri Puengkoksung of the Friends for Women Foundation said yesterday the governor's secretary had called to arrange the meeting.

The foundation expected to report on the complaints it had received and ask the city what it would do to tackle the issue.

Supensri said the names of the officials and subordinates involved had been submitted to the city along with the complaints earlier this year.

Former senator and women's rights activist Rabiabrat Pongpanich yesterday criticised Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobumrung for saying such affairs were common. Such a comment from someone in Chalerm's position would cause men to be less responsible to the family institution. She said only men of low morals would engage in extramarital affairs.
