He asked for more details about the allegations so they could be investigated.
Chalerm said such allegations, without the names of those involved, would only lead to jokes or gossip.
He said that if it was true the "big bosses at the BMA" commonly had affairs with subordinates, there would have to be more details provided about who the parties were, otherwise the allegations could never be proved.
Vague accusations would only tarnish the agency, he said, adding that he personally believed that such affairs were common and people should not get too serious about them.
The Friends of Women Foundation earlier this week said many female BMA officials had filed complaints about sexual harassment and it thus planned to ask the BMA governor to investigate.
Bangkok Governor Abhisit Vejjajiva said the foundation should provide details about the accused as well as the plaintiffs for the investigation.
