The SET Index ended on Tuesday at 834.67 points, down 4.07 points from yesterday's closing. At mid-day, the index plunged 11.91 points at mid-day, as investors are worried of the possible dissolution of the People Power Party.
The Election Commission on Tuesday resolved that House Speaker Yongyuth Tiyapairat, an executive of People Power Party, violated the election laws. This leads to the speculation that his party would be found guilty and be dissolved.
However, investors who were afraid that this would derail political stability and announced economic policies regained confidence, after learning that the process would take months. It is also likely that in the worst-case scenario, the government would be in place and thus this would not cause political instability.
