Cabinet OKs 5 mega-project committees

The Cabinet on Tuesday approved the establishment of five committees to take charge of mega-project investment projects in five areas, which all will be chaired by Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej.

The committees' members will consist of ministers of respective ministries, permanent secretaries, and chiefs of related agencies, said Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee.

The five committees are: the committee on transport which will take care of high-speed train and rural train; the committee on Suvarnabhumi Airport and provincial airports; the committee on irrigation system; the committee on education which will oversee the computer system installation to promote curriculum and extra-curriculum schooling; and the committee on public health.
