The shopping mall is planning to invest Bt10 million for a school-holiday event called Natural Wonder Young Explorer @ Siam Paragon, beginning on Saturday and running for nine days. It will feature five simulated "natural wonders" from around the world: a forest atmosphere, a fashion show, Takara Toys, popular children's cartoons like Keroro Town and a children's playground.
"Like other business people, we're hopeful the atmosphere will be brighter than last year," said Siam Paragon Development's chief executive Chadatip Chutrakul.
"The current economic outlook, both domestically and internationally, tends to influence consumer confidence significantly, which in turn influences their spending," she said.
Nevertheless, Siam Paragon is confident it has gained strong awareness and loyalty among its targeted groups - local urban customers and travellers - because it is visited by 110,000-150,000 people every day.
To tap business opportunities during the school break, the complex will cooperate with Canon Marketing (Thailand), a Japanese manufacturer of digital cameras, electronic office equipment and printing systems, Tomy (Thailand), a Japanese manufacturer of children toys, and Cerebos (Thailand), manufacturer of chicken and bird's-nest essences, in staging this special event.
The shopping complex expects to draw up to 800,000 visitors during the event.
Chadatip said generating high revenue was not the objective of the event. Rather, the aim was to build awareness of the products and services offered by the three companies and to build awareness among children and their parents.
