Safety firm TNDT expects 40% growth

Thai Nondestructive Testing (TNDT), a local engineering-safety inspector and provider of non-destructive testing services, expects to achieve a 40-per-cent annualised increase in revenue to more than Bt250 million this year, following its expansion into the energy and petrochemical industries.

The company is the market leader in the business, with a 25-per-cent share. Its clients are from the petrochemical, oil and gas exploration and production and building-construction industries and include PTT, PTT Exploration and Production, IRPC and Italian-Thai Development.

Managing director Chomduen Satavuthi yesterday said TNDT would bid for several projects in the petrochemical, energy and construction industries this year worth at least Bt50 million. At present, the company has a backlog of Bt200 million from a variety of industries that will be booked to its revenue this year.

TNDT also expects to benefit from the planned mass-transit projects in Bangkok.

"I believe the company will gain a lot of projects and be able to maintain revenue growth of 30-40 per cent," Chomduen said.

The company's services cover engineering inspections and non-destructive testing of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, piping and structures in oil refineries, power and petrochemical plants and buildings under construction.

Chomduen said TNDT would adopt advanced technology in non-destructive testing and engineering inspections, in order to save operational time and increase its gross profit.

The company will also ask the Revenue Department whether it will gain a tax benefit from its listing last September in the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI). As an incentive for listing in the MAI, the government has offered companies a reduction in corporate tax payments from 30 per cent to 20 per cent, and TNDT may be able to increase its gross profit margin 10 per cent if it qualifies, Chomduen said.

TNDT recorded a net profit of Bt37.93 million last year, up 41 per cent from 2006.
