Nokia wins contract

Nokia Siemens Networks has won a contract to expand leading mobile-phone operator AIS's GSM network, the vendor said on Tuesday without disclosing the value.

The project, to be rolled out over the course of the year, includes a Release 4 mobile softswitch solution that will help the mobile-phone operator evolve towards advanced services in the future. AIS with more than 23 million subscribers and a market share of more than 50 per cent, AIS wants a high-performance and reliable solution to launch new advanced services, while maintaining tight control over its total cost of ownership in network deployment, the supplier said.

Tapaco plans plant

Tapaco will spend Bt195 million over five years to build a plant and install new equipment, doubling its production capacity for engineering plastics.

Financial and accounting director Soros Tangnaitham on Wednesday said that earlier this year, Tapaco won investment privileges from the Board of Investment that prompted the company to expand its operation.
