Kwai race is a huge draw

More than 100 teams have signed up for the third edition of the North Face River Kwai Trophy, making it the second-largest race in Asia.

Published on February 21, 2008

The enthusiastic response from adventure lovers has given the race, to be held in Kanchanaburi on March 1, a giant lift, with only the Hong Kong event outshining it in terms of size. The number of participating teams, of two people each, mainly from Australia, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, the USA and the host nation, is expected to reach 120.

The event will comprise two levels, involving biking, jungle running, kayaking and swimming in the River Kwai. The first level is for beginners and amateurs, while the second Extreme level is for athletes and professionals.

The competition will feature men's, women's, mixed, masters (over 80-years combined) and seniors (100-years combined) categories. Teams must complete the course without partners getting separated.
