The "Fuelling the Future" student programme at Gastech 2008 will be held from March 10-13 and is aimed at final-year university students from around the world.

Undergraduates who are interested in pursuing a career within the international gas industry after graduation will be able to seek advice and opportunities.

The programme at Gastech 2006 attracted 91 students from 21 universities around the world.

"By working with key companies within the industry, top students will be funded to attend Gastech 2008 under this exclusive programme," explained event director Tony Stephenson of DMG world media.

Sponsors, who already include ABS, have exclusive access to students on the programme and are thus able to recruit from some of the leading universities around the world including Thailand.

"Students will get an invaluable educational introduction to the gas industry and will be able to network with a range of international companies from the gas community while discovering how they can become part of that community once they have graduated," added Stephenson.

Students taking part in the initiative will arrive in Bangkok on March 11. Their dedicated programme, starting on March 12, will include overviews of the LNG, LPG and natural gas industries by industry professionals; presentations by sponsors of the scheme; the opportunity to attend selected parts of the Gastech 2008 conference programme, and also to take part in guided tours of the exhibition and social and networking events.

The Fuelling the Future website - at www.gastechstudentprogramme.com and via the Gastech website at www.gastech.co.uk - will be live throughout the year and continue to link sponsors and students as well as carrying information on jobs in the industry.
