According to the Badminton World Federation's regulations, only the top 16 pairs in doubles and best 38 in singles will get the nod.

In the mixed doubles, the country's best hope, Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thungthongkam, are assured of their place as they their ranked 6th in the world.

"Sudket and I are aiming to climb to the top four in the world. We really want to be seeded players in the draw to avoid facing tough players in early rounds," Saralee said.

World No 11 Boonsak Ponsana will be the sole Thai on the men's singles list. However, in the women's singles, Boonsak's sister Salakjit, world No 33, is still not assured of a place as some of the 38 slots will be filled by wild-card entrants.

They will still have the chance to improve their rankings when they participate in six events before the Games.
