Spicy Disc's stars top the charts in this year's prestigious Kom Chad Luek Awards

Published on February 11, 2008

Spicy Disc recording artist Khemawich Pangkhanond has received the most nominations in this year's Kom Chad Luek Awards.

His four nominations are for Best Male Artist, Best Song for "Loke Nai Roi Namta" and "Huajai Kap Khwam Fun", Best Album and Best Instrumental.

Fellow Spicy Disc artist Captain Loma received three nominations.

Khemawich, who's better known as Kem and is a qualified lawyer, recently released his second album, called "c u @ d n of the world", a follow-up to his debut "Klom Khon Non Mai Lub" of two years ago.

This new work is a blend of progressive rock and electronica, and the tracks that have been nominated are both love songs.

Captain Loma, the former guitarist for Soul After Six, is in the running for Best New Artist, Best Male Artist and Best Album for a self-titled solo project that digs deep into '80s fusion influences.

Craftsman Records' Jida is nominated for Best New Artist, Best Female Artist and Best Album for "Sawing Sawai".

Sqweez Animal is up for election as Best New Artist for the album "Arj Yang Mai Sai" and Sudsan Wongsamut gets a nod for Best Male Artist with "Suburbian".

Two nominations each go to jazz band Infinity for Best Instrumental and Best Duo or Group; Sunita Leetikul for Best Female Artist and Best Song; KPN Music's ETC for Best Duo or Group and Best Album; and Love Is pop trio Friday for Best Duo or Group and Best Album.

The winners will be announced at Nation Group headquarters at 6pm on Wednesday. Award sponsor Kom Chad Luek is a sister publication of The Nation.
