Soybean oil price hiked by Bt4 a litre

Soybean oil manufacturers receive the greenlight to raise their price by Bt1 for a 1-litre bottle, effective on January 29.

The retail price would then be Bt49.50 a bottle, from Bt45.50.

Watcharee Wimuktayon, deputy director-general of the Internal Trade Department, said the increase follows high demand for soybean oil for alternative fuel production.

"The price increase is fair to all parties. Consumers would need to shoulder the extra cost," she said.
