Fendi is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its famous Baguette with the launch of 10 new bags that Bangkok fashionistas will get to see later this month as part of the Emporium World Fashion Showcase 2008.



This unforgettable bag has been the perfect accessory since 1997 has when Silvia Venturini Fendi designed the purse that she named after the French loaf because it could be worn under the arm with the unmistakable nonchalance that characterises a French woman as she exits a boulangerie.

Over the past 10 years, more than 1,000 versions have been produced in crocodile, lizard skin, denim, mink and pony skin sporting such touches as pearls, beading, sequins and gold thread.

More than 800,000 have been sold and the small, eccentric work of art that is Baguette has become a style icon, opening a new market segment. Fans will love Fendi's Baguette 10+ Collection, 10 bags with a truly split personality, one for day and the other for night. Look on one side and you see a destructured bag in worn leather, while on the other, there's a smooth evening look, a transformation that affects even the smallest detail, including the reversible strap.

The "plus" is a Baguette in white canvas, which comes with a set of Pantone colouring pens to allow the owner to personalise her bag. The bag's box container is covered in graffiti and playful, almost child-like designs.

Enhancing the playful mood is a limited edition of 10 mini Bearbricks, personalised with the fashion house's logo, in the same colours as the anniversary-edition Baguettes.
