MRTA pushes for Orange Line

Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) is asking the new government to add the Orange Line into the mass transit network, citing that the Bang Kapi-Thailand Cultural Centre route would compliment the Blue Line.

The 20-km route passes many buildings and could ease traffic problems in the area, said Governor Praphat Chongsanguan. Praphat also expressed confidence that rail network development would proceed rapidly following the appointment of Samak Sundaravej as Thailand's prime minister.

He attributed the confidence to Samak's extensive knowledge in traffic and logistics management. Samak was a pioneer in modernise the State Railway of Thailand. - The Nation
