As the weather is still cool and dry, and the previous outbreak occurred last November and December, the Lampang public health office has ordered all 12 district hospitals to watch for any cases of hand-foot-and-mouth disease.
Tambon Bor Haew deputy mayor Santi Tanwong said four nurseries in Bor Haew, Thung Khong, Nam Thong and Thub Mark villages had been closed temporarily to be cleaned and disinfected after children were infected with the disease.
Three other local nurseries were also cleaned to prevent an outbreak, he added.
In the central province of Sing Buri, Anubal Sing Buri School director Chawadol Surakhan said three pupils from the kindergarten 1/5 class were found to have the disease last week and were sent to Sing Buri Hospital. The classroom was closed for cleaning.
Two schoolboys from Prathom 1/1 classroom were also found with the disease yesterday. The classroom will also be closed for cleaning.
Sing Buri public health chief Dr Paisal Dunkhum urged the public not to be alarmed about the Anubal Sing Buri case, as the authorities are closely monitoring the situation. Since the disease spreads via contact with nose and throat discharges, saliva, or fluid from blisters, he urged parents who find their children suffering from high fever with blisters in the mouth and on the palms to take them to a doctor immediately.
