T-Wolves' Green to defend Slam Dunk crown

Los Angeles (dpa) - High-flying Gerald Green's competition is set.

Green of the Minnesota Timberwolves will defend his crown in the 2008 Slam Dunk competition on February 16 as part of the NBA All-Star Weekend at New Orleans, the league announced.

Green will compete against the Memphis Grizzlies' Rudy Gay, Jamario Moon of the Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic's Dwight Howard.

Last year in Las Vegas, Green, then a member of the Boston Celtics, outlasted defending champion Nate Robinson of the New York Knicks for the championship.

Green will look to join Golden State's Jason Richardson (2002-03) and Chicago Bulls' icon Michael Jordan (1987-88) as the only repeat champions in the competition.
