Development scholarships

The Asian Institute of Technology Centre in Vietnam and the Geneva Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is offering a scholarship programme entitled International Master of Advanced Studies (IMAS) in Development Studies "Development and Globalisation: Between Growth and Exclusion".



The full or partial scholarships - depending on the qualification of students - are available to cover tuition fees, transport and cost of living in Hanoi and Geneva.

The international programme is in three phases and places:

The full-time IMAS programme lasts for nine months and is offered to development practitioners in Southeast Asia, West Africa, Latin America and Europe.

Phase 1: August 11 - October 10 (9 weeks) in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Phase 2: October 13 - February 6, 2009 (16 weeks) in student's own country.

Phase 3: February 9 - April 24, 2009 (11 weeks) in Geneva, Switzerland.

Candidates should be between 25 and 35 years of age with a university degree or equivalent. They should have at least English proficiency, basic computer skills and also have two years of professional experience in a governmental agency, international or local NGO, international organisation, bilateral cooperation agency, or private organisation in a position related to development aspects.

Candidates should come from the Greater Mekong Region (mainly Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Burma), or North America or Europe.

Applications should be sent to the IMAS Programme, Asian Institute of Technology Centre in Vietnam at 21 Le Thanh Tong, GPO Box 136, Hanoi, Vietnam, not later than April 30.
