Boonsak to face Dan in Korea Open

Boonsak Ponsana could not have asked for a more difficult start to the season.

The Thai ace will be up against world No 1 Lin Dan of China in the men's singles first round of the Korea Open Super Series, which gets underway today in Seoul.

Both missed last week's Malaysia Open, the first Super Series event of the year. The world No 12, Boonsak, was forced to skip the event due to illness, while Lin opted to take a break. This is their fifth encounter, with the Chinese holding a 3-1 advantage.

In the mixed doubles, Thailand's Sudket Prapakamol and Saralee Thungthongkam take on old rivals Hwang Yu-mi and Han Sang-hoon of South Korea.  Sudket and Phattapol Ngernsrisuk have been drawn to meet the Indonesian world No 9 duo of Luluk Hadiyanto and Alvent Yulianto Chandra in the men's doubles.

Countrywomen Duang-anong Aroonkesorn and Kunchala Voravichitchaikul will open their women's doubles campaign against China's world No 5 team of Du Jing and Yu Yang. In the singles, Boonsak's younger sister Salakjit will take on Wong Pei Xian Julia of Malaysia.
