Dr Rosukon is one of 11 winners of the medal, all of whom have been invited to go to Taiwan for the award ceremony to be held in September.

As Dr Rosukon will not be able to take the trip for the occasion, Mr Chou Chin-hua, the founder of the foundation has decided to come to Thailand. Rosukon will receive the medal on January 22 at Banchang, Rayong, where she maintains the Health Farm training centre in organic farming methods that also receives people seeking natural treatment against illnesses such as cancer, HIV, and blindness.

Her achievement in organic farming also won her an award from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in 2003.

Chou Chin-hua established the foundation in 1997 in commemoration of his son Chou Ta-kuan, who had battled cancer vigorously before his life was finally taken away at the age of 10.

As an annual event, the foundation gives the awards to distinguished individuals who have overcome exceptional life challenges. To date, some 158 individuals from 37 countries have received the medal.
