Facing uncertainty: TITV news anchor Tuangporn Aswawilai may look a bit lost, but she does have her immediate future to worry about.
So many people seem to have so much to say!
Once in a while, I enjoy touring the Chalermthai chatroom at community website Pantip.com and during my last visit on Monday night, there were dozens of topics from which to choose. Some of them dealt with the TV channels reverting to black-and-white following the passing away of HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana. Some considered that this showed fake respect and, hardly surprisingly, they came under attack for expressing this view.
On Monday night too, there was also quite a lot of discussion about TITV.
Someone called north_shine noted that the weather lady coughed during her evening report as if something was stuck in her throat. Then, she bent low and the camera switched to the two main anchors, who immediately announced a commercial break.
"I felt sorry for her. But she shouldn't have lost her balance. Hopefully, she didn't get fired," wrote north_shine.
This topic won a comment from Cultureclub, who said she'd heard a giggle coming from the weather lady.
SuperGirl99 posted a comment about the mistakes TITV anchors make regularly. "I'm a fan of TITV news programmes, but recently the anchors have been making a lot of mistakes. Sometimes, they even laugh at themselves."
From Krapuk came a post commending the news team both inside the studio and in the field for wearing black.
Nippanang felt anchor Tuangporn Aswawilai was looking a little lost these says. She'd even slipped up over the title of a book about HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana, calling it "Song Nueng" instead of "Saeng Nueng".
"She looked so sleepy, her eyes were half closed. I've been watching her for a very long time but she's so emotionless."
Have you noticed that these people are all regular TITV watchers and presumably fans of the channel. I'm not sure if they know that TITV will soon cease to exist in its present form and the future of the anchors they are discussing is uncertain.
In a few months, we will no doubt be seeing the new face of TITV. According to an insider, a lot of documentaries will be featured, but we don't know as yet if there will be changes to the popular news programmes.
Since the New Year holidays, we have learned that many main anchors have left the station and those remaining are more than likely struggling to reinstate their employment status. Little wonder then that their concentration is not entirely on their jobs. Don't be too quick to blame them. They have families to take care of!
