Tammy Joins Danai in Aussie Open Qualifying

Red-hot Tamarine Tanasugarn routed out Australian Jelena Dokic 6-2 6-1 to join compatriot Danai Udomchoke in the final qualifying round of the Australian Open on Friday.

Seeded sixth, Tamarine wasted less than an hour to dash the hope of the former world No 4 who is on a comeback campaign in the women's singles second round on court No 7.

Earlier on the same court, Danai was made to work harder for a three-set win over Anthony Dupuis of France in the men's category.

He took the first set easily 6-2 but also dropped the second fast 2-6 before a crucial break in the seventh game in the decider helped him pull off the match.

In the last qualifying round Danai will play American-Indian Rajeev Ram who moved past Carsten Ball of Australia 6-4 7-5. Ram beat Danai in straight sets in a challenger in Sacramento two years ago.

Tamarine will play either Elena Baltacha of Great Britain or Shuai Zhang in the final on Saturday.
