Defender Evans returns to Sunderland

London- Sunderland confirmed Friday that they have re-signed the Manchester United defender Jonny Evans on loan until the end of the season.

The Northern Ireland international, a key part of Sunderland's promotion-winning team last season, has been brought in to shore up a defence that has conceded 40 goals in 21 league games this season.

"He's got a great chance of being a top player," Keane said of the 20 year old. "He's a player who was absolute quality for us last season."

Evans was arrested last month over an alleged incident at United's Christmas party, but released on bail.
