At least it paints us a picture - maybe not a good one, but a picture.
One of my colleagues who happened to read the full text of astrologer Sorajja's predictions complained: "When I finished the forecast for January, I didn't want to read on. It was so gloomy."
It is soooooo gloomy, indeed. Let me highlight only key events that are expected to take place, according to the stars above.
This may upset Bangkok Metro, which operates the subway: the stars tell Sorajja that a bomb will be planted in January and result in huge casualties. A plague will kill
thousands, and embassies should go on full alert, for the stars say they could be targets.
In February Bangkok will face large-scale terrorist attacks. In March violence in the South will escalate, stock investors could be crying as the exchange is expected to plunge, and worse still, a quake in Sumatra could bring down high-rise buildings in Bangkok.
In April, while Bangkok faces another quake, the fortune-teller says some powerful figures will go into exile or otherwise disappear from the social scene.
May will be another month of disasters. The prime minister may suffer
a tragedy, an important person will die, the stock market will plunge, and some big banks will fold. Most factories will be shut down, and divisions among the people will worsen.
Travellers must be prepared, for Suvarnabhumi is expected to suffer a terrorist attack in June, with violence in the South worsening to the point where an inter-national organisation will get involved. Evacuation of residents in the deep South is expected in July, as is the death of a prominent world figure.
Terrorist attacks revisit Bangkok in August, and some areas may suffer from land erosion.
September may be the month when violence in the deep South reaches a level that attracts the whole world's attention, and in October separatists will demand autonomy.
More disasters are predicted for November and December, when Thailand will encounter snow for the first time.
Do you notice that the report is one of unremitting doom? How unlike the horoscopes we are used to in women's magazines, with their emphasis on love, relationships with colleagues and money!
At times, I confess, I have thought the latter boringly repetitive; now they sound a lot better. Who wants to know their life will plunge into the abyss when New Year's Day arrives?
