Have a very berry Christmas

Bug & Bee has a reputation as a relaxed comfortable corner where those weary from the buzz of Silom can refresh themselves with fusion food and drinks.

 But over the festive season things are even sweeter - the eatery is bringing its popular strawberry dishes back to town.

"Bug & Bee is celebrating this holiday season with a festive red and green theme, using fresh strawberries as our highlight. We've always had great feedback for the strawberry creations from our customers, all of which are created by director of cuisine Andrew Lai and his team. This year we're bringing back these unique and fun dishes by popular demand, along with a couple of new main courses and desserts in the red and green theme to celebrate Christmas and the New Year," says managing director Tony King.

Bug & Bee's seasonal strawberry favourites include the strawberry fried rice, where jasmine rice, eggs, vegetables and a meat of your choice are fried together then topped with fresh strawberries for a delicious and colourful dish. For an appetiser, strawberry is wrapped with minced prawn and deep-fried to a crispy golden brown. 

Maintaining the creative fusion traditions at Bug & Bee is the unique crêpe with gnocchi and strawberries and fruit in chilli sauce. The gnocchi are handmade from potatoes and spinach and then fried with fresh strawberries, green apple and mixed fruits in a chilli sauce. This rich mix is then wrapped in one of Bug & Bee's famous crêpes for a well-balanced burst of flavours.

In addition, Bug & Bee has created seductive seasonal drinks. The Santa Marvel - a strawberry and raspberry smoothie bottomed with jade tapioca - is a variation on the famed Bug & Bee Mango Marvel. Then for dessert, try the new crêpe with chocolate-dipped strawberries and whipped cream, where rich dark chocolate meets the tang of strawberries in a crêpe topped off with whipped cream - a wicked treat for the taste buds. Also new is the green tea strawberry chiffon cake, the delicate-flavoured sponge delivering juicy bites of tart, fresh strawberries. Then are also sweet old favourites that have been fruitfully adapted: strawberry toffee cream pie, strawberry chocolate puff, strawberry flambé and strawberry parfait.

 "We got our inspiration from the succulent flavour and intense red of the berries and that comes out in everything from the crêpe with gnocchi and strawberries in chilli sauce to the Santa Marvel smoothie," says Lai. "All the dishes are designed to bring fun tastes and good cheer to the festive season."

Bug & Bee's creative, playful and tasty appetisers, main courses, desserts and drinks can be found round the clock this holiday season in the "StrawBEEry's Cumin' to Town" menu at Bug & Bee Silom located a step away from the escalator for Sala-Daeng BTS station on Silom Road, or at Siam Paragon's food hall on the ground floor.
