Copyright rally
Songwriters and musicians yesterday rallied at the Commerce Ministry to protest against the Copyright Bill, which is awaiting the National Legislative Assembly's approval, claiming that the draft law does not create fair practice for copyright owners.
Some 20 representatives called for the government to revise the draft law, as it lacked copyright-owner participation. They said that government should not intervene in the collection of copyright fees.
Banyong Limprayoonwong, deputy director-general of the Intellectual Property Department, insisted the draft act created fair practice for all involved.
