Amor still in "grave condition" but now "out of danger"

Madrid (dpa) - Former Barcelona and Spain midfielder Guillermo Amor is still in "grave condition" but is now "out of danger," according to the hospital in Tortosa, eastern Spain, where he was being treated after an automobile accident.

The Verge de la Cinta hospital in Tortosa, Tarragona province, gave few other details about Amor's condition on Sunday night.

Amor, 40, underwent an emergency operation on his damaged abdomen early on Sunday morning.

He remained in the hospital's intensive care unit, on an artificial breathing machine, and had been visited by his wife, his parents and 1990s Barca team-mate Sergi Barjuan.

The former Barca midfielder crashed his Land Rover at around 2 am Sunday, while driving back to Barcelona after working as a television commentator for Saturday night's Valencia-Barcelona clash (3-0 to Barca).
