Not the smartest answer in these socially edited times, but it wasn't that long ago that most men were routinely given something extra to look forward to in the coming year.

The folks who bottle Mekhong - perhaps thinking that blokes would drink more whisky after comparing their wives to the clothing-optional babes in the calendars - used to come up with the hottest ones.

Other companies that specialised in macho stuff like lubricant oil, motorcycles and heavy machinery claimed their shares of the market by displaying their products cushioned in boobs.

Leading the sizzle sweepstakes so far this year is Singha Corp's "Sporty Leo Girls" calendar for Leo beer, and they even got a woman to produce it. Top model Methinee "Luk Ked" Kingpayom put the project together and handpicked the featured hotties: Bongkot "Tak" Kongmalai, Arisa "Looktan" Will and Attama "Bowie" Cheewanitchapant.

And you know what? The girls are topless!

No, wait, they're not. Tak told leer-leading newspaper Thai Rath that she could have sworn she was wearing a shirt during the photo shoot.

Actually, the models were told in advance that their pictures were going to be put through a magic scanner called Photoshop that makes women's clothing invisible. "So it doesn't bother me if people complain about 'nudity'!" Tak said with what must be undue modesty.

Tak and her co-pretties are no doubt pleased with Amat "Yai" Nimitpak's photography. His work has appeared in loads of magazines and he's known for his artistic flair.

Nor will the women be disappointed with the paycheque they earned for sharing their skin, which hit the seven-digit level! For a few hours' work! Posing for pictures!

Soopsip isn't envious or anything (much). The girls do look great and very "sporty" - in a beach-volleyball sense. Maybe Leo should jump into the Japanese market next with a calendar of sexy women in sumo diapers.
