Singapore successfully reaped a golden harvest including two on Friday from the women's 400m individual medley and 200m butterfly.

The Kingdom, on the other hand, had to be content with five gold medals which was their worst catch since the 1987 edition in Jakarta, where the team bagged only two golds.

With just a bronze from Natnapa Prommuenwai in the women's 50m freestyle on the final day, Thailand trailed in fourth place behind Singapore's 11 golds, Malaysia's eight and Philippines seven.

Thai fans could take some solace in the fact that Natthanan Jankranjang was among the three swimmers who grabbed a total of four golds.

Natthanan got top spots in 100m freestyle and 200m freestyle in which she set a new record of 2:03.00 minutes.

"Winning the 100m freestyle was a surprise but breaking the record in the 200m category was an even bigger surprise," said the 21-year-old, who will earn Bt950,000 in incentive money for four golds, one silver and one bronze.

The other gold for Thailand came from Tharnnawat Thanakornworakiart in the men's 400m freestyle.
