Apiporn and Sitthi strike golden pose

Sitthi Chareonrit and Apiporn Chomsom-boon did not let the fans at the Rajabhat University 70th Anniversary Hall down as they snatched two gold medals for Thailand in the bodybuilding competition.

Sitthi, who had failed to defend his world title this year, outshone his competitors with great body conditioning and pose. Nguyen Ang tai of Vietnam took the silver, leaving Adi Faudi of Indonesia in third.

His girlfriend Apiporn stole the limelight in the women's category with a smooth presentation, which received a round of applause from fans who packed the hall.

Confusion and doubt filled the air at the awards ceremony as Apiporn took the podium for bronze with the Vietnamese taking gold. However, the hall came alive when the staff of the ceremony asked Apiporn to change positions and receive the gold medal.

The silver medal went to Pham Ngoc trang of Vietnam, while Carina Puruganan Dulce of the Philippines was compensated by the bronze.

Thailand added another gold through Jiraphan Pongkam in the men's up to 55kg division, with Pham Van mach of Vietnam taking the title. Muhammad Yusuf Uus of Indonesia finished third.

The hosts collected the bronze through Somkhit Sumetowechakul in the men's up to 60kg category. Andy Aselawandi of Indonesia grabbed the gold with Amir Bib Zainal of Singapore bagging the silver.
