Chaiya said the Cabinet meeting yesterday approved the draft bill, which the Council of State had scrutinised, and would submit it to the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) for its consideration.

The draft bill states that the ID card will carry a memory chip of the cardholder's information, the conditions over the revelation of the information, the punishment for distributing the information against the cardholder's will and adjusted punishment for those using the ID cards when they give up their Thai nationality.
