Lampung province is located on the southern tip of Sumatra.
CP Prima chief financial officer Gunawan Taslim on Tuesday said the company would embark on a programme to revitalise Wachyuni Mandira and Aruna Wijaya Sakti, the latter of which was formerly called Dipasena Citra Darmaja.
CP Prima acquired Dipasena in May after the government announced the aquaculture firm could not pay its debts to the government. Dipasena first fell into trouble following the country's 1997-98 financial crisis. Dipasena resumed operations as Aruna Wijaya soon after being acquired by CP Prima.
The revitalisation, which will include refurbishing machinery and reopening abandoned shrimp ponds, will be conducted in stages until mid-2009.
"The revitalisation programme for Wachyuni Mandira will be completed by the end of this year, while that for Aruna Wijaya will begin in January 2008 and be completed within 12-16 months," Taslim told a media conference.
Taslim said both companies operated hatcheries, ponds, feed mills, fish-processing plants and power plants. Last month, their combined monthly production of shrimp rose 110 percent to 1,479 tonnes, from 705 tonnes in May, sourced from 76,000 hectares of shrimp ponds.
In addition to the two companies, CP Prima has another subsidiary in Lampung engaged in the same business: Central Pertiwi Bahari.
