Sithichai's candidacy reinstated

The Supreme Court ruled yesterday to reinstate the candidacy of Sithichai Kowsurat on the Puea Pandin Party list on grounds that his duplicate membership for the People Power Party was falsified.

The high court's Division on Election Cases found that Sithichai's signature on the PPP membership application was false and that he was away on a trip upcountry on the date the application was filed without his consent.

The Election Commission disqualified Sithichai last month after it discovered duplicate membership documents filed by the two parties.

Sithichai won his case by proving the PPP had claimed him as a member without consent, by getting his name from a roster from the disbanded Thai Rak Thai Party.

He thanked the court for ensuring justice to him and his political party.

He will contest the poll for proportionate voting in Buri Ram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, Ubon Ratchathani and Yasothon.
