Roads closed for royal celebrations on December 5

The Metropolitan Police Bureau will close traffic lanes on some roads on Wednesday due to activities celebrating His Majesty the King's 80th birthday.

Traffic Police commander MajGeneral Visanu Muangpraesri said lanes would be closed along the entire length of Kalayanamaitri, Prapipit, Maharaj and Sanamchai roads, and from SapanKlongmon intersection to Raksa Din Daeng traffic circle on Charoen Krung Road from 5am to 2pm.

However, motorists will be able to drive on one lane of Maharat Road from Tha Chang intersection to Thai Wang intersection, and on Thai Wang Road from the Thai Wang intersection to the Raksa Din Daeng traffic circle.

Police will also block many other roads, including Rajdamnoen Klang Avenue, Rajdamnoen Nai Avenue, Na Phra Lan, Maharat, Phrachan and Na Phra Tat roads, from 3pm until the event finishes.

People wanting to join the celebrations should avoid those routes and use public transport.
