Sutiya bags 12th gold for hosts

Sutiya Jiewchaloemmit re-stored some Thai pride in skeet and trap by landing the first gold medal on the penultimate day of competition at the Hua Mark Shooting Range.

Published on December 3, 2007

Sutiya lived up to her ranking as world No 5, missing only two targets to collect the gold.

Her score of 96 points not only helped her retain her skeet 25-target individual title for the third consecutive time, but also improved her personal best record.

"I'm extremely excited about my third gold in a row as I was very determined to maintain it before the competition. I shot well today.

"But I felt tired in the final as it was quite late. I attributed my success to my family and they were here today," said 23-year-old Sutiya.

Another Thai shooter, Nutchaya Sut-arporn, failed to compose herself in the final and settled for the bronze with a total of 80 points.
