Many of these old, wooden houses were then knocked down and replaced with soulless concrete buildings. Seeking out timeless wooden architecture, the Siam Society will conduct a study trip to the less-visited wooden buildings around Bangkok on January 19, 8.30am to 5pm. Included on the itinerary are the Old Library of Wat Saket, Meeting Hall of Vajiravuudh College, the chapel of Wat Keow Paitoon.
The tour costs Bt1,700 (Bt1,200 for members), which includes transportation leaving from the Siam Society on Soi Asoke, lunch and refreshments. The tour is conducted in English and Thai. Call (02) 661 6470-7, e-mail email@example.com or visit Siam-Society.org.
