Dr Chinoros Leesawas, a senior official of the Lampang public-health office, yesterday inspected the college and decided to order the temporary closure. "There are 10 more children infected with the disease at the school," he said.
According to Chinoros, the outbreak of the disease was detected at the college and Pinit Wittaya Kindergarten School last week. "But the situation at the Pinit Wittaya Kindergarten School has now returned to normal," Chinoros said.
The doctor said the cool and humid weather had contribu-ted to the spread of the disease.
So far this month more than 70 children in Lampang had sought treatment from two local hospitals because they were infected with the disease.
Hand-foot-mouth disease is contagious and is often found among children. Symptoms include mouth sores, fever and a rash.
