Suvarnabhumi residents ask for flight suspension

About 50 residents whose houses are near the Suvarnabhumi Airport on Wednesday filed a complaint to the Administrative Court against Airports of Thailand's lax environmental controls.

They, represented by Samnuan Praphin, an evironment director of the Law Society of Thailand, asked for the court injuction to suspend all flights during 10pm-5am. The suspension should remain until AOT and the residents mutually solve their conflicts on noise pollution.

Samnuan said that through this complaint, residents want the state to realise that in whatever they do, the actions should not send negative impacts on the public. His colleague at the law society said that the state should have paid attention to the quality of life rather than solely on economic impacts.
