At its weekly meeting, the Cabinet agreed December 24 should be declared a public holiday in order to encourage voters to go back to their constituencies to cast their ballots, he said.

Many people live and work outside of their constituencies.

The finance minister was also assigned to inform the Bank of Thailand about the Cabinet resolution, Theerawut said.
