Executive vice president Sunathee Isvarphornchai is expected to become an adviser to the president.
However, THAI has not yet made an official statement about the change. President Apinan Sumanaseni said the company had moved three executive vice presidents since September.
"The move is part of the organisation's revision of internal management aimed at enhancing efficiency," he said.
Apinan said Sunathee would handle special projects and social-related activities.
The board will appoint a replacement for Sunathee in the corporate communications department but at the lower level of director.
Sunathee, 53, has been working at the national carrier for about 30 years. She is very well known in the aviation and tourism industries.
Apinan said the company would make more changes in its top management in the near future.
