Protesters pressure NLA for energy bill amendments

Over 200 protesters on Wednesday submitted a petition to the National Legislative Assembly, asking for the amendments in the draft energy business bill.

Suthi Atchasai, the protest leader, said that the draft contains clauses that puts a limit on protests against power plant construction. Protesters are subjected to fines and imprisonment, he said.

The draft law is now being interpretted by the NLA.

The protesters come from Ratchaburi, Bang Pakong and Samut Songkhram. Receiving the petition is Wallop "Khru Yui" Tangkananurak, chairman of the NLA Committee on children and human security.
