Among the highlights of the show, which is being held for the fourth year at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre from tomorrow until Saturday, are an NGV (natural gas for vehicles)-powered Toyota Fortuner and imported vehicles from China.

Chatree Manka, managing director of organiser TTF International, said this year's theme was "Benefit Technology", encompassing innovations that help reduce operating costs and improve management.

The show also includes new-product showcases, technology presentations and the Bus & Truck Awards.

Besides auto-makers and accessory/tool companies from Thailand and abroad, more than 100 government and private organisations will take part in the event.

Punnachai Footrakul, PTT's acting marketing manager for NGV, said the company was taking part in the Bus & Truck show for the second year.

"The show helps promote the use of NGV, in which consumption has grown to 750 tonnes a day already," he said. Punnachai said PTT would display a Toyota Fortuner equipped with an NGV conversion kit. The NGV tank, fitted beneath the vehicle, is strong and does not take up much space, he added.

PTT's research centre will also display V8 truck engines that are compatible with natural gas from various sources, including the Gulf of Thailand, Khon Kaen and Burma.

Isuzu and Hino are also taking part and expect to sell a large number of trucks at the show. About 21,000 vehicles are expected to be sold by participating companies.

Bus-makers from China will be aiming to impress the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority and bus operators with their high-quality and low-priced models.
