These shares will be sold to the Government Savings Bank. The ministry wants to maintain its holding in TMB at 23 per cent for a new round of recapitalisation worth Bt35 billion. TMB shareholders vote on the plan on November 27.
Link finance
Krung Thai Bank (KTB) and Siam City Bank (SCIB) have won the bidding for providing loans to the Airport Rail Link project, which has a total credit line of Bt18 billion.
KTB president Apisak Tantivorawong said the bank would loan more than Bt10 billion, which would be provided this month. The lending for the infrastructure project will boost the bank's loans to meet its full-year target of Bt60 billion.
SCIB's chief corporate client and operations officer Lersuk Chuladesa said the bank would extend Bt4 billion. Kasikornbank failed in the bidding but plans to join the Finance Ministry's bond bidding in support of the Airport Rail Link. The bond will be offered next year, said first senior vice president Piti Tantakasem.
Saving energy
The Energy Ministry yesterday kicked off the Demand Side Management project, which offers financial support to small and medium-sized enterprises for energy-saving programmes.
About Bt1.137 billion has been set aside for a project that aims to save energy by 500 million units a year, or Bt2 billion, and at least 1.7 million thermal units, equivalent to Bt3 billion.
Interested enterprises must submit their plans by December 16 via www.dsmthailand.com. The plans can be submitted on their own or through assistance from energy-service companies.
Power demand is forecast to increase to 28,000 megawatts in 2011 from 22,500MW at present, Energy Minister Piyasvasti Amranand said yesterday.
FBA on course
A committee has finalised the definition of "control management", which should ensure that the amended Foreign Business Act (FBA) will be passed during the current's government term, a senior source at the Commerce Ministry said yesterday.
Control management will focus on the directive authority of foreign shareholders on important issues.
The source said that if the definition were agreed by the National Legislative Assembly's committee at its meeting today, the draft bill should soon be resubmitted to the assembly for approval.
