SET closes 2.29% higher

Thai shares closed 2.29 per cent higher on Monday, thanks to capital inflow in Asia stock markets on anticipation of the US Federal Reserve's rate cut in the next meeting.

The SET index started the day with a sharp rise and it headed north further to end the market at 915.03. Turnover was moderate at Bt24.40 billion.

Among the most active stocks. PTT Exploration and Production Plc (PTTEP) surged 0.59 per cent at Bt170, PTT Plc (PTT) jumped 7.84 per cent at Bt440, Thai Oil Plc (TOP) rose 6.52 per cent at Bt98, PTT Chemical Plc (PTTCH) was up 2.34 per cent at Bt131, and Banpu Plc (BANPU) chalked up 8.49 per cent at Bt460.
